olivia was able to talk to her sister lea last night. when i told her that lea had called and she could call her back she was thrilled. i could see the excitement all over her face. i know that she misses her family. i hope that during the time she is in our home we can be a surrogate family to her. because she lives with us, works with us, goes to church with us - everything - she has quickly become part of our lives. she is experiencing it all - the good, bad and the ugly. yes, sometimes there is bad and ugly. sometimes i get cranky or even downright mad. sometimes my hubby gets stressed and irritable. we have your usual family issues that have to be sifted through and worked out. she is moving from being a spectator of it all to an actual participant.
believe it or not, my daughter's boyfriend (mike) also moved in with us this week. long story but his room mate situation fell apart and he needed somewhere to go quickly. Mike's mom died when he was 13 years old and he does not have a dad he can count on. several months ago i would have said NO to having olivia or mike in my home. God has helped me to see that when others need our help sometimes it will "inconvenience" us a bit.
our surrogate family is growing. please don't send anyone else our way. we only have one more room and it is full of unused exercise equipment.
I need a place to stay for a while... Can I move in?
